Krešimir Ivanda is an assistant professor at the Department of Demography at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb. He received his bachelor's degree in economics in 2012, and his master's degree in economics in 2013 at the same faculty. In May 2020, he received the title of Doctor of Science in the field of social sciences, field of economics. The topic of his doctoral dissertation was "Changes in the socioeconomic characteristics of the population of the City of Zagreb" under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Sc. Anđelko Akrap. Since 2014, he has been employed as an assistant, and since 2020, he has been employed as a senior assistant at the Department of Demography at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb. Since 2024, he has been elected to the scientific and teaching title and position of assistant professor. He has been continuously participating in teaching at the Department of Demography since 2014. He teaches several courses at the integrated undergraduate and graduate university studies and professional studies, both elective and mandatory courses. He teaches programs in Croatian and English. As an external associate, he taught at the Faculty of Croatian Studies in a group of demographic courses from 2019 to 2023. As a researcher and associate, he participated in a number of domestic scientific and scientific-professional projects funded by the Croatian Science Foundation (foundation research project "Sociodemographic determinants of energy consumption in Croatia", 2020-2024), the Adris Foundation ("Demographic infrastructure for better assessments and policies", 2015) and the University of Zagreb ("Data research infrastructure", 2015). From 2020 to 2023, he was employed as an external expert on the project "SENIOR 2030 - Thematic network for active aging policy in Croatia", funded by the European Social Fund. He is an active member of the COST action History of identity documentation in European nations (HIDDEN). His research interests are economic demography, migration, labor market, projections and computational methods in demography. He is a participant in a number of domestic and international scientific and professional conferences where he presented scientific papers, author and co-author of scientific and professional articles. He is a co-author of the scientific monograph "R in Science and Education", published in 2024, which deals with the practical application of the R programming language in science and education. He has additionally advanced his skills in the field of statistical and computational methods in social sciences at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, the Centre d'Estudis Demogràfics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the Central European Labour Studies Institute in Bratislava and at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR). He is an active user of the R and Python programming languages. In his work, he uses complex data processing and analysis techniques using advanced and current computer tools and techniques. Krešimir Ivanda actively participates in the review process of a number of scientific journals in the field of social sciences. Krešimir Ivanda is registered in the register of scientists of the Ministry of Science and Education with the scientist registration number 348771. He is a member of the world demographic organization IUSSP and the secretary and vice-president of the Croatian Demographic Society (HDD). He is a member of several working groups of the Government of the Republic of Croatia for issues of demographic revitalization, youth and the pension system, in which he currently contributes his expertise and participates in the creation of public policies and strategic documents.
She graduated and received her master's degree from the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb (1997, 2000), and in 2003 she received her doctorate as part of the joint EDAMBA doctoral study program at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and EFZG on topics in the fields of macroeconomics, industrial policy, employment policy and structural changes in the labor market, which are also her areas of scientific and professional interest. At EFZG she teaches a number of courses - Macroeconomics, Macroeconomics of the Labor Market, Clusters and Competitiveness, Croatian Economy, Institutions and Employment Policies, and as a visiting professor she has lectured at numerous universities in the EU (University of Ljubljana, Complutense University of Madrid, University of the Balearic Islands, University of Lisbon, University of Malta, University of Granada, University of Murcia, etc.). She is the author, co-author and co-editor of several scientific books and university textbooks, three proceedings of domestic scientific conferences and the author of more than 110 articles in peer-reviewed journals. For her scientific work and research productivity, she has received a number of awards, including the DSN Annual Award for Young Scientists and Artists (2005) and the 'Mijo Mirković' scientific award (2005, 2008, 2013, 2020 and 2023). As a researcher, she participated in many scientific projects funded by the Ministry of Health, the Croatian Federation of Social Sciences, the World Bank, Oxford Analytica, USAID, CERGE-EI, and the Slovenian Agency for Research and Innovation (ARIS). From 2018 to 2020, she was a member of the Working Group for Monitoring the Implementation of Active Employment Policy Measures at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, Government of the Republic of Croatia. Since 2024, she has been a researcher on the HORIZON STEAMbrace project and a member of the Steering Committee for the field of social sciences, field of economics at the Academy of Higher Education and Vocational Training. Since the beginning of 2025, she has been the leader of a bilateral Croatian-Slovenian scientific research project funded by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.
Lucija Rogić Dumančić is an associate professor at the Department of Macroeconomics and Economic Development, Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb. With more than 15 years of academic and research experience, she has published a number of scientific papers and participated in numerous international scientific conferences. Her research focuses on the field of macroeconomics and economic policy, including labor market dynamics, competitiveness and convergence in the European Union. She has participated in several scientific projects, including: "MacroHub - Establishment and Development of the Center for Structural and Nonlinear Macroeconomic Modeling" (HRZZ, 2018–2022), "SPIRITH - Creating Prerequisites for Building a Computational Macroeconomic Model for Croatia" (EU, 2015–2016), "The Role of Structural Policies in Enhancing the External Competitiveness of EU Countries" (2015–2019). In the academic year 2015/2016, she was a visiting researcher at the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics. She teaches several courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Macroeconomics, Economic Policy, Welfare Economics, and Resource Economics. She is a member of the organizing committee of the international conference ICED and the executive editor of the Economic Review. She has received several awards for her teaching and scientific research.
Marin Strmota received his PhD in 2014 from the Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb, on the topic of demographic processes in the family, and is currently an associate professor at the Department of Demography. In his scientific and teaching work, he specializes in the areas of general and economic demography, population policy, and the impact of demographic changes on economic development. He teaches at all levels of study and in international programs in Croatian and English. He has high competences in the application of quantitative and statistical methods in social sciences, especially in the processing and interpretation of demographic and survey data. He received scientific training at Essex University (UK). He is the author of numerous scientific and professional papers and regularly participates in international and domestic conferences. He is the recipient of the "Mijo Mirković" award and an award for teaching excellence. He gained experience in research projects as the head of the HRZZ established research project "Sociodemographic Determinants of Energy Consumption in Croatia", and participated in the projects: "Demographic Infrastructure for Better Assessments and Policies" (Adris Foundation), "Data Research Infrastructure" (University of Zagreb), "Economics of Aging in Croatia" and "Impact of Demographic Changes on Economic Development" (MZO). He was the State Secretary for Demography (2016–2018) and has been the President of the Department of Demography of Matica Hrvatska since 2018. He is a member of the international professional associations EAPS and IUSSP. He actively uses English and German.
His scientific interests include the application of basic tools of microeconometric analysis such as models for longitudinal data analysis and models for the analysis of discrete and limited dependent variables. Furthermore, in addition to time series analysis methods, he has also been educated in the field of spatial econometric analysis, which enables the analysis of relationships between regions. In the period from 2006 to 2007, he was engaged as a collaborator on the scientific project ''Applied Macroeconometrics in Croatia: VAR Approach'' (project code: 0067031, leader: Prof. Dr. Sc. Boris Cota), funded by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia. In the period from 2007 to 2011, he was engaged as a collaborator on the scientific project ''Financial Stability, Macroeconomic Policy and Financial Market Activity'' (project code: 067-0671447-2570, leader: Prof. Dr. Sc. Boris Cota), funded by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia. From 2015 to 2017, he was a collaborator on the Croatian Science Foundation's research project ''Understanding, Monitoring and Analyzing the Transparency of Local Unit Budgets: The Case of Croatia and Slovenia - Local Budget Transparency Index'' (project code 3008, project manager: Prof. Dr. Sc. Katarina Ott - Institute of Public Finance). From 2015 to 2018, he was a collaborator on the Croatian Science Foundation's establishment research project ''Application of Microsimulation Models in the Analysis of Taxes and Social Benefits in Croatia'' (project code 4096, project manager: Dr. Sc. Ivica Urban - Institute of Public Finance). Since 2018, he has been a member of the editorial board of the journal Croatian Review of Economic, Business and Social Statistics (CREBSS). He is a member of the Croatian Society for Operations Research (HDOI) and the Croatian Statistical Society (HSD).
Tomislav Sekur graduated in 2008 from the Faculty of Economics – Zagreb, majoring in Economic Analysis and Development. Since September 2008, he has been employed at the Faculty of Economics – Zagreb at the Department of Macroeconomics and Economic Development as a junior researcher under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Sc. Ivo Družić. In 2014, he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "The Effects of Manufacturing Industry Concentration on the Regional Development of Croatia". In March 2016, he was elected to the scientific and teaching title of assistant professor in the scientific field of social sciences, majoring in general economics, and in April 2021, he was elected to the title of associate professor. Tomislav Sekur has actively participated in domestic and international scientific conferences, published about twenty scientific papers, and is a co-author of several university textbooks. He also actively works as a reviewer for several journals and international scientific conferences, including "Economic Review", "Proceedings of the Faculty of Economics" and "International Conference on the Economics of Disaggregation (ICED). Since May 2019, he has been the secretary and assistant editor of ZIREB and actively participates in the affairs of the faculty, serving on the Teaching Literature Committee, the Lifelong Learning Committee and the Journals Committee.
Viktor Viljevac graduated in 2018 from the Faculty of Economics – Zagreb, majoring in Economics. Since September 2018, he has been employed at the Faculty of Economics – Zagreb at the Department of Macroeconomics and Economic Development as an assistant under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. sc. Josip Tica. In 2024, he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "Implications of Model Uncertainty on Income Gap Estimates and Fiscal Multipliers Estimates". His research focuses on the field of macroeconomics and economic policy, including the labor market, fiscal and monetary policy. He participated in the scientific project "Analysis of Structural Factors of Convergence of the Republic of Croatia during the Transition Process". He has received several awards for his teaching work. He teaches courses in Macroeconomics, Economic History and Croatian Economy.
Marta Nimac was born in 1998 in Zagreb. She finished high school in Zagreb in 2017 and enrolled in the Integrated undergraduate and graduate study of Business Economics at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb - Finance module, from which she graduated in 2023 and received the academic title of Master of Economics. During her high school and student days, she was active in sports, achieving significant successes in basketball, including appearances for the Croatian national team at European championships. She gained work experience in the financial sector, working in asset management companies and an insurance company, where she dealt with investment management, financial instrument analysis and regulatory reporting. In November 2024, she began her postgraduate Doctoral study in Economics and Business Economics at her home faculty. Since January 2025, she has been employed as an assistant at the Department of Demography at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb and participates in teaching several courses at the university study. Her areas of scientific research interest are general demography, economic demography, fertility, and population policy.
